Wiley is a African-American painter. He was born on February 28, 1977 and is still creating artwork today! Kehinde Wiley is known for his highly realistic portraits of black men. Wiley poses the men in famous poses found in Western art (art of Europe).
Kehinde Wiley painted a portrait for former president, Barack Obama to be hung in the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. This was a monumental moment because it was the first black artist and president to be showcased in the Smithsonian.
